You can see the Fragonard 'signature' in the individual pictures. This type of china is also known as 'Love Story' sometimes 'courting couple'. There are scenes of a courting couple on both the body and the lids, with varying vignettes. A gorgeous pink, with lots of gold gilt on edges, borders, and within the pattern. So much beautifully executed detail.
The design of this beautiful and luxurious tea duo was inspired by the art work of Fragonard. Inside the cup and its handle are covered by a generous layer of gold.
Great vintage condition. No cracks, chips or repairs. Given the age of this decadent tea duo, there is some gold wear on handle as inside the cup, but nothing that affects its functionality or detracts from its beauty.
